We speak to beauty vlogger Jamie Johnston

Meet Jamie Johnston. She's currently one of our favourite beauty bloggers, make up artists and Youtubers. Oh and she's only 18. Did we forget to mention she also runs her own freelance makeup business?

Jamie's adoration of makeup is evident constantly trialing the latest technique, product and trend in the world of beauty. She was only 15 when she started blogging, turning to YouTube in order to give her audience the chance to watch and learn what products work and how to get the latest look.

Based in Lanarkshire, Jamie travels across the UK with her freelance makeup business, something that couldn't have happened without the help of her Youtube following. Online beauty tutorials are now one of Britain’s fastest-growing businesses, with a staggering two-fifths of British women viewing online beauty tutorials, an industry that now attracts 700m hits a month! But don't fret ladies, while the typical YouTube age range is between 11-16 years old, there is also a wide range of people, starting from 16 right up to 65! Beauty vlogging is for every woman! The key to vlogging is simply to provide information, to educate and to entertain - people want to learn new things and Youtube helps provide!

We ask Jamie the best advice for becoming a Youtube Beauty Vlogger and how to start documenting your life online:

"I think the best advice I could give is to be yourself, be positive, truthful, patient (as views don't come as fast as people think!) and most importantly make friends. It's fun having the same beauty interests as other people and really helps to engage with your audience, providing content they will find valuable and use within their day to day life. I try to create content that I genuinely like and enjoy, showing passion for the things I love simply by being me! I also find that consistency helps too. My audience know when I post, which really helps to create loyalty since they know when to come back for another video update."

Make sure to watch out for Jamie at Girls Day Out this year! She will be able to answer your beauty inspired questions and help you get started in the world of video blogging! We'll catch you on YouTube ladies!
