Winter is on its way! It's that time of year where the leaves are falling from the trees, the woolen jumpers are starting to make an appearance, the daily hunt to find scarves, hats and gloves is kicking in and our skin is starting to brace itself for those cold, winter months ahead. Ah Winter, how we’ve missed you!
It can be so hard to keep your skin in tiptop condition, as it starts to loose it’s sun kissed glow (well depending on the British summer), taking on a similar complexion to Casper the Friendly Ghost. Who said you couldn’t rock the porcelain look? The harsh winds and bitter cold start to take their toll, drying out our beautiful skin and forcing us into hibernation until Spring. So how do you keep your skin hydrated and glowing in the Winter months? Is there a magical solution that will keep you glowing like a Summer goddess?
We were lucky enough to chat to B Skincare founder, Chris Pearce, who runs a small family business based in the heart of Cornwall, inspired by old country recipes that are handmade and completely natural. Chris gave us his top tips on keeping your skin in check during the Winter months. B Skincare use ingredients such as beeswax, essential oils, infused oils, honey and flower waters to create products that will look after the skin through gentle nourishment, helping to calm and restore.
Here are B Skincare's 5 top tips:
"The first and most essential tip I would give to brighten and prepare your skin during Winter for moisturisers is exfoliation. You need to gently exfoliate dead skin on your face and body. As a policy B Skincare don't and have never used micro beads, which are extremely damaging to marine life."
"In order to prevent your skin from the drying effects of cooler weather you need to apply a good quality moisturiser to your face."
Tip: Use B Skincare Enriched or Rejuvenate, both for extra protection. If you are after mid range protection, B Skincare Lavender & Honey or Rose & Honey is great for normal skin types or if your skin is extra sensitive B Skincare Aloe Vera is great for lightly moisturising.
"Lips need extra protection in the winter. Our lip salves contain beeswax to protect your skin from the elements and natural oils to help moisturise and heal sore lips."
Tip: Use B Skincare lip salve before winter properly kicks in, so that lips are more resilient to chapping.
"Exposure to the sun and wearing sandals all summer can leave hands dry and feet with cracked skin, which isn't great when entering the Winter months. We have a selection of hand and foot creams which are great for healing dry cracked skin and adding extra TLC for the winter months."
Tip: Use B Skincare Beeswax Hand and and Foot Cream to fix dry hands and cracked heels, fragranced with ylang yglang esstenial oils for a fresh feel.
"Hydrated skin will be brighter and healthier. Don't forget to keep your fluid up during the cooler months. Also maintaining a healthy diet will keep your skin looking radiant."
